Giving back to my community and those around me has always been extremely important to me. I had the opportunity to collaborate with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in their Students of the Year Campaign to raise money for blood cancer research, patient and family support, and treatment funding. Over the course of 7 weeks, I led my team with my co-candidate, using my personal network and that of my team, to raise over $28,000 for my local Pittsburgh community (and beyond). On a similar note, I joined the Pi Sigma Epsilon, a professional fraternity at Indiana University, recruitment advisory board to build a new class of individuals who would be able to experience the wonderful sense of community that I gained in recruiting with PSE. I wanted those around me, who felt a similar lack of community, to come together and build friendships and professional skills that would serve them throughout their college experience and life in general. I'm constantly seeking to find new outlets to give back to those around me while I can build myself up transform into a stronger leader and teammate. I think the desire to help others in my circle or community feeds back into uplifting my own career and personal trajectory so that I can grow with the development around me.
