Grower’s Assistant⎢ Overseeing community outreach efforts at our Chicago facility, assisting with marketing, and training all incoming greenhouse staff on proper procedure. • Oversee greenhouse staff with daily tasks such as seeding, watering, transplanting, and greenhouse food safetychecks.• Creating harvest and transplants schedules for the week, and making sure harvested produce is properly lot coded.• Using Sage ERP system to inventory all greenhouse supplies and materials on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.• Create greenhouse tasks lists and guidelines.• Establish work instructions by task.• Train all incoming staff on food safety and correcting crop handling.• Taking water samples to measure for pH and electrical conductivity (E.C.) of all stock tanks in the facility.• Keep detailed track of greenhouse trials and experiments.• Overseeing and maintaining monthly, weekly, and daily Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) logs and training logs, and monthly inspections for the greenhouse.• Develop and maintain partnerships with like-minded local food organizations in Chicago.• Coordinate seedling donation program with local school gardens and educational non-profits.• Organize company volunteer events and tours.• Giving tours of the greenhouse to various organizations and social media influencers.• Demoing product samples in grocery stores to promote our brand.• Facilitate daily checks to maintain optimal crop health. In one scenario we had stunted growth in our nursery, our seedlings were significantly smaller and we could not figure out why. I deciphered that the water temperature had dropped since we had switched to drawing straight city water. This caused the plants to drastically reduce growth. Currently we are looking into purchasing a water heater to alleviate this problem.• Coordinate the daily harvest between pack house and greenhouse teams making sure to maintain an even balance between what is harvested and what is transplanted.
