Maggie is a Co-Founder and VP of Engineering for Seattle-based engineering firm, First Mode. Maggie is a veteran of the space industry and has deep experience tackling unknown engineering challenges. These include drilling into the compositionally unknown crust of Mars, developing laser communication technology for deep space, and — more recently — converting large industrial equipment to hydrogen power. As a Co-Founder of First Mode, Maggie has been an integral part of the company's growth, including responsibility for the success of the company’s ongoing work on NASA’s Psyche mission to the asteroid belt. As VP of Engineering, Maggie is responsible for the technical health and growth of the organization and leads the engineering team as they tackle some of the world’s most challenging problems, both here on Earth and throughout the solar system. Before joining First Mode in 2018, Maggie worked at Planetary Resources and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) developing robotics for space exploration. She worked at JPL for seven years on the Mars Curiosity Rover and the Mars Perseverance mission. Maggie was recently named by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) as one of 10 “Women Engineers You Should Know.”
