Maggie Schoonover has built a career on change and adaptability. She holds a B.S. in Meteorology from the University of Oklahoma and an M.Sc. in Environmental Management from the University of Reading, U.K. Having grown up in "Tornado Alley", Maggie's early career focused on meteorological data sensing and analysis with an emphasis on sustainability challenges due to climate change and land management issues. She later took an opportunity to pursue software development full-time in scaling small businesses and start-ups. Seeing the chaotic and often problematic working environments produced by high expectations and tight timelines, Maggie decided to seek a better way for managing technology-focused innovation teams. She views the world through a very holistic and interconnected lens, and remains passionate about the environmental, social, economic, and cultural sustainability challenges of our time. Maggie seeks to bring a sense of sustainable management to complex problems, including sustainable methods for managing people, teams, and businesses (not to mention the vast economic impacts of doing so successfully). Maggie currently serves as the Director of Sustainable Innovation and an Assistant Educator in the College of Innovation and Design at Wichita State University. She is also a licensed Professional Scrum Trainer through Scrum.org and is the co-founder and co-owner of Smash Dev Shop, an Agile consulting and training business.
