President
CurrentiWrc is an ecosystem of teamwork, relationships and cooperative stakeholders catalyzing economic, social and environmental opportunity in emerging markets. iWrc promotes a full chain of custody and transparency and is building a scalable model for inclusive waste recovery and global change from the ground up. Our Partners capitalize on each member’s strengths and resources, promote full accountability and further support the advancement of social inclusion, environmental improvement and business growth. The interdependent relationships built within our ecosystem help build cohesion, enabling achievement of mutual goals and objectives. From individuals who collect and sort recyclables to global corporations, each participant is a critical stakeholder to the outcome of the whole. The iWrc vision is to create an environment where people, community and business benefit from reducing and transforming waste into valuable resources. We do this by eliminating individual risk factors, for those who recycle in the emerging markets and live on or below the poverty line – risk factors such as child labor, forced labor, unsafe and inhumane working conditions, which enhance waste pickers health and well being while integrating the material they collect into the value chains of our public/private corporate partners. To succeed, iWrc focuses on people first, ensuring that our management system approach and priority outcomes include waste pickers’ improved health, safety and financial wellbeing. Our process is based on the principles of SA8000, incrementally improving conditions to achieve a targeted level of socially inclusive performance. Specifically, our goal is to touch at least 1 million cooperative members globally, 95% of whom are women, who recycle more than 150,000 MT of materials annually.
