★Italian-English literary translation A chance meeting with an Italian children's author in my daughter's Italian primary school in 2011 triggered the decision to move away from working on Italian to English commercial texts and focus on literary translation, with a special interest in children's books. Nine years later, The Distance Between Me and the Cherry Tree, published by Hot Key Books in 2018, was named an Honor title for IBBY UK in the translation category, and also a Batchelder Honor Book. Red Stars, published with Pushkin Children's, was a 2018 Honor title in Book Trust's In Other Words scheme. I have translated YA Novels, multiple picture books, educational texts, non-fiction texts for adults - Breakfast with the Centenarians by Daniela Mari, presented at Edinburgh Book Festival 2019, a travel memoir by Adam Seli, literary cookbooks, and several illustrated children's texts on, amongst other things, world history, international folklore and world culture, the human body, evolution, philosophy, Europe, and a scary amount of books about dragons, dinosaurs and other fantastic beasts. I work closely with an Italian publisher - Headu Books - developing books, puzzles and games for babies, toddlers and young children, based on the Montessori method. This won me a job as a PA and Italian-English translator for a US multinational, then as a sales assistant for the Riva and Ilva Groups.
