The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) is Australia's integrated corporate, markets, finance and consumer credit regulator. My role:I am an Executive Level Two Senior Behavioural Researcher, previously in ASIC's former Behavioural Insights and Consumer Policy Unit, and more recently in the Regulatory Reforms and Implementation team which is responsible for ASIC policy work. I provide behaviourally informed advice across a range of priority areas including policy, scams, remediation, surveillances and enforcement cases and victim and witness communication. I was the lead author of the ASIC field guide 'Making it right: How to run a consumer centred remediation', part of the team leading the development of 'Regulatory Guide 277 Consumer Remediation', and co-author of Behavioural Economics Guide 2022 article 'Helping or Harming? How behavioural levers can influence people's financial outcomes'. Banjo was an advertising agency focused on going against the status quo to celebrate its clients and their brands - with a missing to create great, enduring Australian brand stories that sell. My Role:I was responsible for understanding the consumers through various research methods (e.g. qual, quant and desk research) and feeding these insights, along with broader behavioural science concepts, into the strategy and planning phases for various campaigns and ongoing strategic advice for our clients. The clients I worked with ranged from large financial institutions, to various FMCGs, educational institutions and government agencies. For example I worked on the strategy for NSW Health's 'Down to Test' campaign, whose goal was to increase STI testing and condom use in young people via an activation in a music festival setting. The activation incorporated psychological and behavioural economic techniques to insight behaviour change. In its first outing at ListenOut Festival (2017) the activation smashed its goal of testing 180 festival goers, testing a total of 530 and in 2018 picked up a Mumbrella award.

I then analysed and translated the data for communicating with stakeholders and senior management, which to improvements in user experience and informing company practices. I was also responsible for exploring who our customers are and forming customer personas based on the collection of qualitative and quantitative data.
