ScandBook is leading producer of 1-colour books for the Scandinavian market. Contrary to many competitors in the industry the company is solid and has been performing financially. The company is listed on Nasdaq First North in Sweden. I held the position as interim MD for the ScandBook group for two years. During my time we transformed the company. Firstly we acquired our main competitor in Lithuania doubling the turnover and we followed up by investing in the worlds largest digital book production line, significantly modernizing the operation and creating a platform for increased service contents and for integration with key customer ERP systems.

Finland

Under my leadership Bookwell developed from WSOY in-house printer into the leading book producer in Scandinavia. The company was triple triple-A rated by D&B from 2002 - 2011, it also got nominated best employer in the Uusimaa region. From 2010 onward my main efforts where in change management involving productivity projects, M&A activity and developing of new digital revenue streams.

Porvoo

The Book Printing Division was in financial distress as I joined in 1996. As a member of the newly appointed management team my primary task was to drive internationalization and improve profitability and efficiency of sales. By renewing target setting in both sales and credit control and by developing the CRM system I managed to achieve my targets. This required close co-operation with key customers such as Bonnier, Penguin and Aldi. During these years we established a solid presence in Scandinavia, UK, The Netherlands, Germany and Russia.

Helsinki

Among the first in forest industry our quality team obtained ISO 9002 certification for Finnboard and Finnpap. TQM was just emerging in Finland and we worked hard and successfully to get tools such as benchmarking, self assessment, process charts, continuous improvement and SPC rooted in daily business. A significant part of my task was coaching and training in our sales offices all over Europe, something that did a lot of good to my presentation and negotiation skills. At the time I also worked as official auditor for the Finnish Quality award.

Helsinki

As Business Area Manager, end use Tobacco I was in charge of the global sales of 400 thousand ton of folding boxboard, primarily from the M-real and UPM mills.By shifting focus from the immediate buyers (printers) to the ultimate end users, tobacco companies like Rothmans and Gallaher we managed to create partnerships that significantly improved both volumes and profitability making end use Tobacco the most profitable unit in Finnboard.

As Export Manager I was in charge of board sales to Turkey and Greece as well as to South- and Central America. The business was mainly conducted via independent agents. My sales results were good and lead to a fast promotion.
