Following a 25 year career with Maclay, Murray & Spens, a leading Scottish law firm, I spent time in a number of executive and non-executive roles. These included Law at Work and Golden Charter. I have recently been appointed to the Board of Gabriel Investments, a leading Angel investor in early stage businesses.I continue to "put something back" serving as Chairman of the board of trustees of the National Galleries of Scotland Foundation and supporting a small number of other charities.I am now available to consider opportunities to work with growth businesses or charities on a non-executive basis and possibly to invest in suitable businesses.

I became a director of LAW in 2001 and from 2012-2021 was Executive Chairman. In August 2012 I led an MBO of the company from MMS. The company expanded rapidly with organic growth complimented by business acquisitions throughout the UK. LAW became one of the leading HR, EL and H&S consultancies in the UK. In 2019 we sold the Company to Marlowe plc.

I joined the board to help Alistair Clarke, the MD, develop the business and to assist in raising capital. After successfully raising significant additional capital including a Crowd Funding round , it became clear that acheiving a business of scale in the private hire market place dominated by Uber and with charging infrastructure and green agenda issues being delayed repeatedly in London, was impossible without very significant funding. We folded the company, which remained solvent, into a Newco incorporated by Alistair.
