About Maha Alkhateeb
Passionate about fostering inclusive societies and dismantling barriers to equality. šŖš Making a Positive Impact | š Driving Change | š„ Empowering CommunitiesAs a Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Specialist, I'm on a mission to create a world where every individual's voice is heard, respected, and valued, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, abilities, or background.I am passionate about promoting gender equality and mainstreaming. I am committed and dedicated to empowering women and youth through coordinating development and humanitarian programs and projects. Following the Syrian crisis that affected Jordan and the neighboring countries, I had the opportunity to work on humanitarian and relief work. My experience in this field began in July 2013 when I worked with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in Jordan to assist the Host communities affected by this crisis. For three years, I provided shelter assistance for Syrian refugees in the host communities. While working on the shelter program, I reflected on my knowledge of gender equality and social inclusion while preparing the assessment used to select and serve vulnerable groups, especially women. I later joined UNDP Jordan to be part of one of their main programs, "Mitigating the Impact of the Syrian Refugee Crisis through Support to Host Communities". My focus was on supporting women and youth to start their businesses, thereby improving their living standards. During my time there, I was involved in one of the biggest projects in the UNDP Jordan country office, related to empowering the local communities particularly women and youth in the Solid Waste Management sector in Jordan. The project was funded by the government of Canada and was implemented over three phases from 2016 to 2020. I utilized all my experience in the women and youth engagement component of this project.Currently, I am working as a Gender and Social Inclusion and Informal Sector specialist with the USAID Recycling Activity in Jordan.
Listed skills include International Relations, Program Management, Research, Media Relations, and 13 others.
