Maham is a seasoned investment professional with expertise in infrastructure project finance, blended finance and early-stage project development across several markets and sectors globally. Her 20+ years of track record also includes investment banking and asset management experience. In her current role as Principal Investment Officer in IFC’s Upstream and Advisory team, she is leading global support on IFC’s early-stage project development products across Infrastructure, Manufacturing and Financial Institutions sectors (‘Upstream Collaborations and Co-Developments’) - a novel and growing space in development finance. Maham has delivered in a number of roles at IFC across various functional groups including both global and regional roles. These include: (1) global sector lead for wind power, battery storage and hydropower sectors in IFC’s Global Energy team where she led execution of select transactions, while facilitated other transactions as a reviewer and through guidance on investment structuring and insights on sector trends; (2) investment officer in the Blended Finance team where she focused on assessing and structuring concessional finance investments (debt, equity, guarantees, local currency facilities, etc. in infrastructure and financial institutions sectors) alongside IFC commercial investment; and (3) investment officer in IFC’s Infrastructure team in Middle East & North Africa (MENA) where she led several transactions and managed portfolio projects in Pakistan, Egypt and Jordan. While in MENA, she also led business development and relationships with key Infrastructure clients and government counterparts in Pakistan. Maham has worked on landmark renewable energy transactions such as the first wind IPP in Uzbekistan (500 MW Zarafshon project), first solar IPP program in Egypt (752 MW Nubian Suns /Egypt FiT program) and IFC’s largest hydropower project (720MW Karot, Pakistan). In addition, she’s worked on some notable initiatives such as launching IFC’s Scaling Wind program and negotiating a first loss guarantee with the European Commission for IFC’s Small Loan Guarantee Program (SLGP). Before IFC, Maham worked in investment banking and asset management at Samba Bank (Pakistan), Bank of America (New York) and HSBC Investments (New York). Maham is a CFA Charter holder and graduated magna-cum-laude from New York University with a BA in history and economics.
