Ai Intern
CurrentAs an intern, I will be working on several diverse projects. One of the projects involves modernizing a scientific code used for modeling the physics of the upper atmosphere. I will work on its structure, organization, and usability while also exploring CI/CD automation in GitHub. Additionally, I will have the opportunity to develop and run the code on NCAR's supercomputers. Another project will be focused on developing a tool to enhance data downloads for the CESM climate model. By intelligently querying multiple servers and tracking factors like size and speed, the tool benefits a wide user community. Furthermore, I will be collaborating on a cross-organizational project with NEON and NCAR to build and enhance web or Jupyter-based scientific visualization tools. These tools were instrumental in facilitating modeling and observations in Python for the ecological community. Lastly, I will contribute to a project aimed at creating a cloud-friendly data processing tool integrated within a climate model's workflow capabilities. This tool utilized Dask and was tested on large datasets of hundreds of terabytes. Throughout the internship, I will also work on projects related to advanced CI for a cloud 'gateway' and evaluating the effects of compression on machine learning in climate data.
