1. Summer (2 months) Internship at CSIR-CCMB.Biophysical characterization of a novel βγ-crystallin was attempted. To accomplish this task, the overexpression and purification of this protein from inclusion body have been standardized. This multi- domain βγ-crystallin from Hahella chejuensis is a well-folded protein with proper secondary and tertiary conformations. Considering that βγ-crystallin is a Ca2+-binding domain, Ca2+-binding studies were also attempted. The effect of Ca2+ remains yet to be established. Besides Ca2+, binding to other metals, e.g., zinc, too needs to be studied.Other non-lens βγ-crystallin proteins as Hahellin full length, Clostrillin full length &LPHase were purified.2. Participate in the national workshop on" continuous medical education on clinical immunology past & present".
