Working in the Analytics & Modelling team within the Assurance group.Main tools used: SQL, Alteryx, Tableau, Excel, VBA, Python.• Co-founded a new accounting tool for complex reorganisations – Partnered with technical accounting team to build a new self-service tool, which enabled the team to win and deliver complex reorganisation projects. The tool drove £1m of incremental revenues while reducing manual workload by up to 70%. I was the technical owner of the tool and was responsible for requirement gathering, system design, end-to-end development, budgeting / cost tracking and supporting go-to-market efforts. The solution incorporated intuitive VBA enabled Excel input forms and an engine built on Alteryx.• Automated and cut client’s month-end process by 64% – Overhauled the month-end close process for 30+ entities of a global chemicals company, reducing close timeline from 14 days to 5 days. Developed a model that used SAP extracts to automatically prepopulate individual pro forma financial statements and create consolidated Group reports using VBA.• Reconciled large datasets to streamline audit projects – This commonly involved extracting data from the client’s SAP or other accounting software databases consisting of hundreds of millions of rows; processing the various tables within Alteryx/SQL and then reconciling the platforms, i.e. Payment Systems → Journals → Bank Statements. Built dashboards in Tableau/PowerBI tailored to the client to visualise the data showing key insights for various stakeholders and revealing discrepancies that need further investigation.• Co-founded the Alteryx Centre of Excellence – The centre is responsible for promoting the tool, showcasing projects, and providing L&D resources. I introduced an Alteryx Build Guide to harmonise workflow structure and layouts across the team to allow easier review and handover processes.

My role as a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Technician involved collecting GPR surveys out on the road; processing and analysing the data (using GPRCAD); linking up the tomograms with GPS positions of utility cables under the road and pavement which is exported to CAD to produce utility surveys.Side projects included: collating previously unsorted data into a spreadsheet database to track projects better and provide insights into user workload; introduced file naming protocols to efficiently sort data from various projects, equipments and shifts; and created templates to standardise report writing components.

MSc Applied Geophysics, Semester 4: ThesisTopic: Geophysical characterisation of peatlands using crosshole GPR Full-Waveform Inversion.Programming language: MatlabAnalysed existing and newly measured crosshole Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) data sets from peatlands in the Ahlenmoor, Northern Germany. The data was inverted using conventional Ray-based and newly developed Full-Waveform Inversion (FWI) algorithms. The FWI significantly improved the model resolution compared to standard methods. In addition to estimating the peat thickness and internal structures of the peat, I performed time-lapse measurements to observe the changes that occur from winter to summer; and to better understand the gas exchanges between the peat and atmosphere. I organised fieldwork campaigns; and acquired data using a wide range of GPR antennas and other geophysical equipment.

Summer internship working within the Earth and Planetary Magnetism Group. I used CAD software (SketchUp) to design cubes that replicate rock core samples manipulating the porosity and permeability of the samples. These cubes were 3D printed in plastic with variable stiffness properties; coated in a ferro-fluid colloid; given a magnetisation using electromagnets; physically deformed; and then the magnetisation is measured again to observe how the magnetic domain was affected.The research continued afterwards and went on to produce results that were presented at the European Geophysical Union conference in Vienna in April 2017 where I was named as a co-author on the poster.Supervised by Prof. Ann Hirt
