The opportunity AprilAire allowed me was incredible. So many great learning experiences and people at AprilAire. I began on Nov 1, 2021 coming off the tail end of Covid-19, due to social distancing in person training was completely halted. With my arrival in Nov. we began our first social distance Training; Hazardous Communications. With that training we began the cadence of having monthly safety trainings on various of topics. My proudest moments at AprilAire is eliminating forklift traffic by doorways and reducing speeds of forklifts to a safe manner without interfering with production and deliveries. A close second place is beginning Hearing Conservation Program, trained and maintained. Toping off by enforcing a plant wide Hearing Protection Program.I personally trained folks on: - Power Industrial Trucks - Electric Power Jack - Straddle Lifts - Fire prevention - Flammable liquids/vapors/aerosols - Flammable Cabinet - Mechanical Machine Press Guarding Safe Practices- Lock Out Tag Out- Personal Protective Equipment- SPCC- SWPPGosh, what a ride! During the summer of 2020 I had the opportunity to be an Safety Intern at Madison Gas and Electric. I worked in the Sustainability and Environmental Affairs department, within the department I was under the safety branch. This was the summer of Covid-19, most safety related agendas were handling all the logistical issues with a pandemic. Our biggest issue was goggles fogging, finding an alterative was difficult. I had a great experience with MGE, I would recommend this internship to all in safety.
