As Project Manager Mahmoud was responsible to develop a support program to help customers to migrate to the Microsoft Azure Cloud. Together with the team he developed a trainings program to educate the customers on most common Azure IaaS components like storage, VM’s, networking etc. In addition he developed four standard solutions that the resellers could use to implement in Azure.

Lead team of operations engineers and work with them as lead to create a decommissioning plan for the 3 windows domains to be decommissioned over time. Goal was to decommission about 1500 servers and 3 domains.

The Hague Area, Netherlands

For this assignment Mahmoud worked as Project/Program manager on the Shell Global Account. The LCM’s programs goal was to roll out, install and replace 3000+ high end servers that were end of life. The replacement HW was partially deployed in global data centers but also on globally spread remote sites. During 18 months, the project deployed and about 1100 servers in 15 different locations around the globe that constituted a value of $9 Million dollars.Supervising and managing the program and projects:• Setup and management of the overall project planning consisting of scope, timelines, budget and resourcing.• Validation and confirmation on scope, timelines, hardware/software requirements and obtaining of formal approval from the customer to execute the IT infrastructure deployment and migration.• Setup of CAPEX budgets and obtaining formal approval from management team. Used budget for this project was ca $8 Million• Monitoring and controlling multiple (up to 10) projects in parallel.• Execute regular team meeting with (virtual) project team on progress and status of the deployments and migrations.Organize and plan the execution of project activities.• Arrange for the hardware installation in the datacenters and the associated hardware support. Ca 1100 servers were deployed in 15 data centers globally during a 1,5 year time frame.• Managing project engineers, operational resources and external resources to install and configure windows and linux on the servers. During this assignment Mahmoud operated as Disaster Recovery Coordinator with the ING Bank in the Netherlands. Mahmoud was selected by ING to assist on the additional Disaster Recovery testing workload caused by the Data Center Strategy Program whereby ING is consolidating multiple DC’s into two major DC’s. Within this program Mahmoud was responsible to organize, plan, execute and report on disaster recovery drills.

Mahmoud was responsible for the coordination of disaster recovery (DR) within the business lending department. In scope were about 50 applications operating at different datacenters and using different Operating systems, middleware and databases.The major objective here was to assure a Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) was created for the critical applications and that the DRP’s were tested regularly.

With IAN Mahmoud was project member in a migration project to consolidate the de-centralized IT infrastructure on a new central IT infrastructure based on HP C-Blade servers and HP EVA4000/6000 SAN. The IT infrastructure consisted of 1500 users, 1500 thin client Chip pc’s, 40 Citrix MPS 4.5 servers with windows 2003 as OS, a few windows 2003 clusters and a HP EVA 4000/6000 SAN.

Veldhoven

With MMC Mahmoud supported the project to migrate the Citrix Metaframe XP en Powerfuse 7.01 infrastructure to a Citrix Metaframe Presentation 4 en Powerfuse 7.03 environment. The IT infrastructure consisted of 3300 users, 1600 workstations and 74 Citrix servers with windows 2000/2003 as OS. In parallel to this project Mahmoud was providing 3th line support on the windows 2000/2003/Citrix infrastructure.
