I lead the fundraising efforts for Duke's Strategic Initiatives aimed at actualizing Duke's potential to tackle societal problems at scale. We seek to inspire philanthropic investments that leverage Duke University's expertise, resources, and networks to address pressing global and societal issues. I am also Co-Founder of SIGAP - Strategic Initiatives Group for Advancement Professionals. SIGAP is a non-profit, professional development organization that conducts, supports and facilitates activities designed to share, teach and develop strategies surrounding transformational philanthropy at leading colleges and universities.About me:I believe that "culture eats strategy for breakfast". As a results-oriented leader, I seek to establish and nurture a culture of trust, empowerment and meaningful expectations that define the goals of my team (of which I am captain, not coach). A good culture motivates good people to do good work and these are the necessary antecedents for employing effective strategies - be they for fundraising or doing the laundry.I am personally motivated by three things: providing an enjoyable life for my family, the opportunity to connect people and ideas to actualize positive change, learning everyday.I am passionately curious (and curiously passionate, for that matter). I love ice hockey, science, heavy metal, cooking (and eating), philosophy and building things (mostly out of wood, sometimes, just ideas).
