A little bit of backstory.I was born in Japan but when I was a year old my parents and I moved to the States and lived in New York, Florida, and Illinois for a total of 25 years. Throughout the years I attended the local public schools during the week and Japanese School every Saturday, and since we only spoke Japanese at home while I spent my days in the English speaking environment, becoming proficient in both languages came naturally.I attended Florida State University where I had some of the most greatest experiences of my life studying English (Creative Writing) with a minor in Fine Arts, and being invited into the Honors In The Majors Program, I was able to study under numerous influential writers, read a ton of astonishing books, and this is where I decided I wanted a career utilizing my language skills.In the 25 years I lived in the States I had only visited my birth country 3 times, all 3 times a total blast, but the first 2 times I visited I could not imagine myself living in Japan and thought America would be my only home. The third time though, much older than the first two times, it was like I saw Japan through a whole new set of eyes, a completely different mind, and I knew I wanted to live and work in this country.My aunt who lives in Yokohama, Japan is an entrepreneur who owned some of the most famous restaurants and cafes in the Yokohama area and when I spoke to her about my interest in moving to Japan, she informed me she was opening up a new business and could use my help since the area would bring in a lot of English speaking customers. As much as I loved my job at Sega Amusements U.S.A. at the time, I wanted to challenge myself, to push myself and was completely excited for this new chapter in my life. So leaving my parents behind I got on a plane and flew overseas. It has been 11 years ever since I made my big move and even though the first few years in Japan was a complete whirlwind -not knowing how to ride the train, not knowing I had to take my shoes off even at the doctor’s office, that my speaking voice is too loud, and that casual hugs as greetings are not so casual (amongst many other things)- I have had some truly amazing career opportunities and personal experiences which have allowed me to grow and enhance myself.I am now a proud mother of 2 beautiful daughters and I strive everyday to be a great role model to them, to teach them hard work, and to show them my love for working and being a part of a team to work towards something together.
