My life’s work is to end sexual abuse and the harm it causes. I am proud to serve as the Executive Director of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers, which envisions that all people are able to live in a world without sexual abuse. During my tenure with ATSA I have guided the association’s expansion to 3,000 members, representing researchers, practitioners, and other professionals in more than two dozen countries. Our work includes research, outreach, education, advocacy, and the development of collaborative relationships with private and public organizations throughout the world.As ATSA’s Executive Director, I:• Guide implementation of the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of ATSA. • Host the world’s largest annual conference and leading educational venue for professionals interested in the research, treatment, and management of individuals who have sexually abused others or are at risk to do so. • Represent ATSA with private and public organizations throughout the world to promote evidence-based approaches to reducing and eventually eliminating incidents of sexual abuse. • Advocate for sound research, informed policy, effective practice, and comprehensive prevention initiatives through amicus briefs, media interviews, presentations, and other outreach opportunities.

During my time as Clinical Team Leader, I ensured the program met requirements for accreditation, oversaw programming improvements that led to a reduction in patient violence, improved organizational communication processes, and strengthened evaluation procedures.My responsibilities as team leader were to:• Oversee the hospital accreditation process.• Develop and implement the treatment program for adult males with aggressive behavior problems.• Supervise the interdisciplinary clinical team providing treatment services to individuals with mental illness and aggressive behavior problems.• Provide training on clinical skills for staff working with specialized populations such as individuals who have sexually offended and with impulse control problems.

As the Correctional Mental Health Unit Supervisor, I worked with legislators and the other external stakeholders to educate them about effective treatment and management of individuals who have sexually offended, built effective relationships with external partners to more effectively transition individuals from custody to the community, and improved the program’s overall effectiveness.My responsibilities as the unit supervisor were to:• Oversee and evaluate program effectiveness.• Provide clinical supervision to a multi-disciplinary treatment team providing treatment services to adult males who have sexually offended.• Provide testimony at parole and court hearings regarding treatment progress and risk.• Provide training to community stakeholders and students regarding sex offender treatment and management.• Transition individuals who had offended from prison to community settings.
