I produce all written and visual marketing material for the Foundation, from website updates and social media blasts, to the annual report, through to the production of all written and visual assets for fundraising appeals. I developed a framework for evaluating and reporting the success of our online communications, and I monitor our audience, in terms of reach and demographics, to dial in our marketing. I manage the communications budget, evaluating and adapting necessary tools and initiatives to remain on budget and on target for communications goals. I create and implement marketing and communications strategies that are flexible to accomodate new events, fundraisers, and initiatives for stakeholders and donors. Throughout the year, I support the YHF Board PR & Marketing Committee in both preparation and execution of initiatives within their remit, offering ‘best practice’ advice and professional experience, while liaising with local English and French media for advertising, awareness, and inclusivity.

As Editor-in-Chief, I managed a staff of over 30 writers, editors, illustrators, and designers, plus our external contacts (printers, advertisers, etc), with a budget of €10,000. We produced quarterly 60-page arts & culture print magazines plus daily online website and social media content, using Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Wordpress. I established a clear set of standards and job descriptions for all positions within the magazine, and for any incoming submissions, ensuring clarity of communication and expectations. I solicited content for online and print outlets, providing both copyediting and content oversight, while managing any conflicts that arose and providing support as necessary.Previously, I was the Sex & Sexuality section editor.

I was a movie critic on Arena on RTE Radio One (Irish national radio), often focussing on any women’s/queer issues that emerged. That means I got to attend press screenings of movies, write up thoughtful reviews, and talk with Seán Rocks and other critics on-air.

I was tasked with raising €5000, so I planned, pitched to stakeholders, developed, and opened a secondhand shop, with all the profits going to support RWN. This included not just soliciting and collecting donations and shop equipment, but training a team to staff it. The project not only exceeded my fundraising goal by establishing a sustainable revenue stream that raised €7000+ in the first year, it also opened up opportunities for on-going training and community development in anunderserved, low-income area, and was touted as a model social enterprise by national politicians.
