As work package leader for TNO's pandemic preparedness for pathogen detection program (P3Dx) I am responsible to build and establish a strong and multidisciplinary innovation ecosystem to integrate knowledge, innovation, and practice. In this ecosystem companies, research institutions, and healthcare organizations collaborate on technological innovations and creating the necessary conditions.

PreScouter Dx was founded to help clients address their Covid-19 testing needs. I was involved in setting up the company and the diagnostic testing offerings. As its Technical Director, I am responsible for safeguarding the scientific quality of our services.

As a Senior Project Architect I am activitely involved in training and mentoring Project Architects. In addition, my role has me participate in client relationship management activities and project sales.

As a PreScouter Project Architect I work in a team of science consultants to advice and support global health care, biotech and medical device companies in the development of their services or products or help them tackle scientific challenges in their respective fields. As a Project Architect I manage and supervise a team of researchers that tackle multi-month projects. I present our findings to the clients and work with them to address their needs.

As a PreScouter Team Lead I supervise a team of research consultants in consulting projects. In this role I am responsible for the quality check as well as the preparation of client materials. Clients include major (biotech) companies in the US that want to design, build, develop or sell a product.

My PhD project was aimed at identifying new antibiotics against the causative agent of tuberculosis (Mycobacterium tuberculosis). Sub-aims include the optimization of the zebrafish model that is used to study tuberculosis and the improvement of a global understanding of the value of animal models in tuberculosis-research. I was an intern at the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics (Center for Biomembrane Research) for my second year of the Master Biomedical Sciences. This internship focused on protein work and characterizing arrest peptide structures that can stall ribosomes during translation. Supervisors: N. Schiller, R. Hedman and Prof. G. von Heijne

During my work here I analysed dental models and traced cephalometric scans of children that required orthodontistic treatment. I performed calculations based on these scans to assist the dentist to formulate a treatment plan.

During my internship of the Master Immunology/Infectious Diseases I attempted to optimize an HIV-1 sub-unit vaccine by adding internal immuno-stimulatory molecules (GM-CSF) to the antigen. Supervisors: Dr. T. van Montfort and Dr. R. Sanders

In this role I worked as an research assistant to set-up an agarose gel-free, PCR detection method to detect ESBL-plasmids. This method was published in BMC microbiology.

During this internship I characterized and identified new virulence factors of Mycobacterium tuberculosis that are involved in the formation of the hallmark of tuberculosis disease: the granuloma. Supervisors: Dr. E. Stoop and Prof. W. Bitter
