Maikel was contracted by SET’s Strategy and Continuous Improvement team as the primary SharePoint resource to support the deployment of a new Dealer and Associate portals using the Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Platform. Working closely with SET Senior Management, Maikel provided SharePoint expertise to help define and prioritize requirements for the Dealer Daily portal, which is the primary communication channel for SET’s 175 dealer network, containing over 200 applications. Maikel also worked with SET Associates to deploy SET first intranet, SET’s Associate Portal. As the primary technical resource, he utilized his business insight and technical expertise to deploy key collaboration solutions, utilizing the full suite of Microsoft Technologies including, SSRS, Performance Point, InfoPath and SharePoint designer to deliver business value. The associate portal also leverages SharePoint publishing features to create an engaging user experience with the latest corporate news and highlights being published directly by content owners. We also leveraged other enterprise systems (Gmail and SalesForce) by integrating the intranet portal to other collaboration enterprise assets. We created a web service integration layer to provide access to information from Gmail and SalesForce from SharePoint. Associates were able to access information from these platforms from the corporate Intranet. SalesForce Chatter integration allowed users to share documents directly from SharePoint to SalesForce and vise a versa. In order to meet senior managements information need, a platform for aggregating all corporate reports was created, reports where loaded to the intranet from Cognos, SSRR and Mainframe systems.

WMATA is the second largest transportation department in the nation. Initially, Maikel was engaged as a member of WMATA Enterprise Architecture team to perform an Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) assessment on WMATA’s Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Platform. The SOA architecture was being used by WMATA’s Safety department to automate business critical processes, and aggregate relevant enterprise data for the Environmental Safety Department’s reporting purposes. The assessment covered the platforms virtual infrastructure consisting of 28 servers, software components (SharePoint 2007, SQL Server 2008R2, and BizTalk ESB) and software development processes. The findings were used to develop a remediation program that Maikel went on to lead through the implementation phase. As Program Manager Maikel lead two major projects for the enterprise architecture team; the Infrastructure Improvement and Stabilization Program, and Safety BI Dashboard project, both utilizing an agile project management methodology. The Infrastructure Improvement and Stabilization program addressed the major technical issues identified during the IV&V assessment and oversaw all platform modifications to WMATA’s SOA platform. This included upgrading the current SharePoint 2007 platform to SharePoint 2010,a and adding six new servers to the SharePoint farm to provide high availability for business critical safety transportation applications. The Safety Dashboard program is the main BI initiative for the Safety department, identifying the departments’ information needs and leveraging the SharePoint platform and web services to aggregate data from enterprise systems such as People Soft and Maximo. The team is using Silverlight to create geospatial smashups to display real time information on buses, trains and incidents. The Dashboard also leveraged several graphs and KPI’s written in Cognos 10.

As senior team lead in IBM’s global delivery center in Dubuque, Iowa, Maikel was one of only five SharePoint Architects in IBM, and had responsibility for leading the team that supported and deployed collaboration (SharePoint) and email (Exchange) solutions for customers that had outsourced their systems to IBM such as the GAP, AmerisourceBergen, DOW Chemicals, Keiser Permanente, Avis Budget, Miller Coors and Amtrak. On a daily basis, the Jazz Team (level 3 technicians) provided incident and problem management support, in addition to delivering projects for customers. Maikel’s role saw him provide technical expertise to resolve complex issues, project management for the full portfolio of initiatives, team mentorship and responsibility for managing customer expectations and ensuring service levels were met. Maikel worked on several high profile projects with the Global Solutions team providing SharePoint architecture support including:Successfully implemented NetApps SnapShot Manager for SharePoint to provide customers with uninterrupted backup and restore capabilities of their SharePoint environments. He also gained experience maintaining and deploying K2 BlackPearl in a SharePoint 2010 environments to augment the platforms workflow capabilities.Was the SharePoint architect of the largest SharePoint 2010 implementation to date (implementation is a joint effort of IBM and Microsoft for Mead Johnson project completed November 2010). The implementation consisted of thirty SharePoint servers distributed around the world. This implementation also leveraged Forefront Identity Manager 2010, to provision customers from SAP to SharePoint. Was the SharePoint architect for the transition team at Miller Coors, were he was responsible for migrating the existing 20,000 user SharePoint farm from the HP data center to IBM’s. As part of IBM Global Delivery Framework Maikel utilized Six Sigma Lean tools and techniques in service delivery and project management.

Maikel is pleased to announce his appointment as Consulting Manager for one of South Florida’s fastest growing professional service firms, NuTech. In this role, Maikel’s primary responsibilities will be to provide leadership to NuTech’s growing team of consultants, while ensuring the organization continues to evolve and build its’ capabilities to meet growing customer demand in the mid-markets. Broward College is the third largest college in the nation and Maikel was engaged to develop and deploy a new Enterprise PMO strategic planning process. As Microsoft’s Enterprise Project Management (EPM) solution was selected to automate the new processes, Maikel worked with executive management to define the organization’s strategic objectives and developed the organization’s governance process, prior to configuring the college’s Microsoft’s Portfolio Server, Project Server and SharePoint server to ensure the EPM solution supported the full project lifecycle. A phased approach was used, and a training program developed to ensure knowledge transfer and successful adoption of new PMO processes.

During this period, Maikel also worked with Mapei, an Italian manufacturer of industrial adhesives, were he was responsible for conducting a current state assessment of their IT organization using the new CMMI-SRV framework. Based on his findings, Maikel developed the organization’s 5 year strategic plan underpinned by ITIL, PMBOC and CobIT standards. After working with Mapei’s senior management team to build business cases for all short term remediations, Maikel was contracted to assist with the deployment of a new Service Desk Process which included deployment of new Remedy software, ITIL Service Desk, Incident, and Service level management process.

Veracity Management Group (VMG) was a publicly traded, management consulting firm headquartered in Florida, providing business solutions, project management, integration and compliance solutions. In the role of Delivery Director, Maikel was responsible for the leadership of VMG’s delivery team, which included mentoring several practice directors to ensure the successful delivery of the services portfolio, and responsibility for the organization’s program management office (PMO), supporting over 40 consultants. He also worked with customers to define their needs, develop solution documents, respond to RFP’s, generate scoping documents and statements of work for engagements, and ultimately lead initiatives on behalf of VMG’s key customers. Maikel was also responsible for establishing VMG’s strategic industry alliances with organizations such as Novell and Oracle. Auxis is a South Florida consulting firm delivering technology solutions and business process improvement initiatives to the mid market. Maikel was assigned as the Development Manager for a $15M Oracle ERP implementation project on behalf of Applica Consumer Products, Inc, a billion dollar consumer goods manufacturer and distributor. This saw him responsible for custom development, integration, vendor negotiations and technical documentation for the project.During this period, Maikel was also assigned as project manager for a core banking replacement project for Independent Bankers Bank of Florida. Scope included: gathering the technical requirements for the RFP, and establishing the change control and oversight process for outsourcing development to an overseas provider.

Leaders provided Technology solutions to a broad range of HiTech, professional service, corporate and public sector enterprises. As Consulting Manager, Maikel lead several fixed price projects to deliver cost effective, flexible, web enabled solutions for the Mid Market including a turnkey e-commerce solution for a large tourism operator, and a fully integrated web based practice management solution for recruitment companies. The solutions were based on Microsoft architecture using .NET ASP technologies and third party components to deliver rich functionality, exchange integration and user friendly content management. He also provided consulting services to the following high profile Leaders Customers:IBM Global Services –Established JAVA environment for IBM GSA’s Australian operation’s support office. Borland –Engaged by Borland’s Consulting team on an ad hock basis to set up and mentor new Borland clients providing advice regarding set up and optimization of the JBuilder environment and tool sets.DMR Consulting - (Futjitsu Business Systems) – Engaged as technical member of a team responsible for developing a methodology to e-commerce enable existing government transactions on www.ourbrisbane.com.au, an early eGovernment initiative by the world’s 2nd largest municipality – Brisbane City Council. The methodology drew from Rational’s Unified Process (RUP) and DMR’s proprietary methodology and enabled over 40 transactions to be deployed successfully during his tenure.

Engaged as the Country Coordinator for all of Citibank Latin Americas Internet and Intranet development initiatives, Maikel was responsible for coordinating intranet projects for twenty six countries. The role saw him liaising with Senior Business Executives to analyze requirements, recommend appropriate solutions to meet the regions’ specific business requirements, liaising with Corporate HQ – New York in respect to global technology initiatives; and managing a team of project managers to deliver a range of projects. Key deliverables included:Establishment of best practices for web development; J2EE, Microsoft, and Oracle based systems.Approval of all multinational Internet/Intranet initiatives for Latin America to ensure strategic corporate technology standards were met and best practices implemented in web design.Recommending hardware infrastructures, software and development tools.Creation of proof of concept applications and provision of support to senior management by providing more effective knowledge management tools. Managing outsourced projects for Citibank. As the point of contact for external consulting companies, Maikel was responsible for reviewing all proposals and approving proposed solutions.

Acting as IT Director, Maikel managed a development team of twenty responsible for all custom application development for SONY PPLA, including the development of intranet and web applications and their integration into existing legacy applications. His responsibilities included full lifecycle requirements gathering, project estimates and costs, proof of concepts, generating technical design documents for development and management approval; and establishment of development environments (Websphere Studio, Visual Age for JAVA).

As the Project Lead, and Senior Developer for the redevelopment of the Off Shore Trust system, Maikel lead a total rewrite of the in house developed international banking package (JETS) which incorporated complex multicurrency conversions, consolidated GL, and handled high transaction volumes. His team was responsible for upgrading the legacy code with new programming standards using RPG IV, and enhancements included Y2K and Euro compliance. Maikel developed the deployment and QA strategy and worked with the management in each location to ensure the system was deployed into the Bahamas and Jersey Channel Islands effectively.

During this period, Maikel was responsible for deploying a turn key solution for small to medium (SME) enterprises based on IBM’s AS400 platform and SYSTEM 2000 software. HIs role included the migration of hardware and systems to new AS/400e platform with packaged software, configuration of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN installation and connectivity and AS400 system installation and setup; Creating conversion programs for all legacy data; Coding System modifications using RPG/400, RPG IV and CL; training users in new software (SYSTEM 2000).

As MIS Manager, Maikel as responsible for design, development, implementation and support of the retail distribution operating application - SYSTEM 2000 package. In addition, he provided support for all in house development on the AS400 platform. Specific enhancements included: order processing, purchase order and inventory control system, customized order interface for packaged EDI document processing and custom reports.
