Growing up, I was one of those children whose room – to the untrained and typically adult eye – seemed like an unsystematic and chaotic space. Looking closely it was, however, very evident that my room was far from chaotic and every toy, pencil and book had its specific place and stood in a specific order for a specific purpose. Typically, I wanted to be out the door within 1 minute of my best friend calling for me to come over and play and I didn't want to waste time running around in my room to collect my favorite doll from the doll shelf and favorite book from the book shelf and go to the closet to collect my bag pack. As a result, my favorite doll sat on the shelf closest to the door on top of my preferred book leaning against my bike helmet sitting next to my bag pack that contained my pencils, paper and flashlight. This may immediately have seemed like a chaotic shelving and storage system, but to me this was the most logic and efficient way to ensure I could be out the door within 1 minute of my best friend calling. I was eager to get out the door and I didn't want my friend having to wait unnecessarily long for me. My personal and professional ‘shelves’ now contain other and more complex items than dolls and bike helmets, but I am still passionately driven by identifying and creating the most practical, efficient and logical order of things in a chaotic and crowded space to get things ‘out the door’ and generate satisfied customers. The world of supply chain management, project management and process optimization is where I feel naturally at home and where my qualities of bringing efficient structure to multiple and complex processes yields success.
