As a Correctional Officers I oversee offender activities regarding:§Guiding, directing or referral,§Reduction in violence,§Contraband control, and Safety, security, and the overall sanitation of living areas.Specific daily actions may include:§Monitoring, inspecting, searching (both property and offenders)§Directing and documenting (incident reports, offender counts)§Communicating, guiding, and crisis intervention§Equipment inspection/control§Physically restraining offenders when appropriate.Physically and mentally demanding to include:§Working various shifts (holidays, weekends, mornings, afternoons, and graveyards),§Working in an environment with fluctuating noise and temperature (indoors and outdoors),§Climbing stairs and repetitively walking on solid concrete surfaces,§Interacting with individuals with a range of moods and behaviors (mentally and emotionally disturbed),§Working with diverse individuals (gender, race, ethnicity, religion, physically disabled), and in potentially hazardous situations involving physically aggressive and/or violent behavior
