An experienced informal educator who makes learning come to life for audiences of every stripe.---Maila Jill Rible began her career while still attending Toronto Metropolitan University as a radio journalist for CFRB 1010, Canada’s premier NewsTalk radio station. After graduating as a broadcast major from Ryerson’s School of Journalism, she continued working for CFRB, before moving to Australia.While in Australia, Rible worked as a radio reporter for the SBS Network and continued her freelance writing career.After returning to North America, Rible moved to North Carolina where she freelanced for NPR before making the jump to television with Gannett’s CBS affiliate WFMY. After four years with Gannett, Rible moved to Pittsburgh in 2008 and began working for Hearst Television’s ABC affiliate WTAE as an employee of Internet Broadcasting. Rible put her communication skills to work for the Marketing Department at Carnegie Science Center and continues to develop and share educational programming content. She also found time to devote a year to the AmeriCorps VISTA program, serving as a marketing and program consultant in the Pittsburgh office of the national non-profit Center for Employment Opportunities.Her work as a freelance writer and voice-over artist has appeared both in the United States and abroad and includes the national biweekly science column "Brain Candy" for Sun Media/QMI Agency.
