Downtime ≠ Reward Work should be rewarding! Success is an ever-advancing goalpost, well worth the forward movement.Marcus Aurelius, a Stoic Philosopher, once said (paraphrasing here...) "you're a wolf; you were born to work. So what are you complaining about?" Now, that sounds archaic but allow me to expound: my summation of this statement is that it is natural to be involved in work--contribute to the project of life--it is not a punishment. Since reading that statement in 9th grade, I have developed a committed passion for jam-packed and productive. This frame of mind keeps me excited every day--I am so thrilled to be a young professional navigating stepping-stone opportunities each day. I am working intently to collect copious stepping-stone experiences that continue to promote my excitement for Monday; I never want to work for the weekend. I aim to maintain this frame of mind through every endeavor I may encounter in my professional life as much as my personal life. Unoccupied = AgitatedWhen I become unoccupied, lacking forward momentum, I find myself very uncomfortable. Working with people lights a fire in me. Better yet, connecting with them gets me amped up, drives me to work harder, and expands my opportunity to delve into the world around me.
