About Mailyne K. Briggs

I have a passion for the arts, particularly Film, TV and Media, and have over 12 years of experience working in pre-production, production and post production for independent films, documentaries, commercials, music videos and multi-cam live stream productions. My first deep dive in the industry began in 2010 at Bigfoot Studios in Cebu, Philippines, first as a Production Intern, then as an Intern Manager and Executive Assistant working on both feature films and developing unscripted television series.After leaving the Philippines and with the birth of my child, I began my own company in 2013. In the 11+ years of operating my company, I've had the opportunity to work with numerous businesses, nonprofits and artists, producing original content: photography, graphic design, video and audio that is accessible for television, web and print. I gained valuable experience as a small business owner that is transferrable in all scenarios and projects I'm part of, and has been integral to the way I build relationships with partners and clients.Because of my background, I've been fortunate to have the opportunity to mentor young people and women-of-colour in Entrepreneurship, Digital Media, Marketing & Communications through Invest Ottawa, Social Planning Council of Ottawa (SPCO) and the Canadian Women of Color Leadership Network (CWCLN).Whether professionally or personally, I believe in collaboration and prioritize working with and sharing opportunities with women who are part of Indigenous, Black or PoC, LGBTQ2S+ communities. My values of being community focused, anti-oppressive, socially just and eco-conscious lead the direction of my life path and my work. I currently live in Los Angeles continuing to operate Kilam Media Inc. and work on various productions.
