I am the Founder/CEO of the Tigerlily Foundation and a 14-year survivor of breast cancer. On February 28, 2006, at 4:45 p.m., I was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. I had no family history. While undergoing my second round of chemotherapy, I made a promise to God that if I survived, I would create an organization to educate, empower, advocate for and support young women affected by cancer. After my second treatment, Tigerlily Foundation was born. Tigerlily provides educational, empowerment wellness and transformational programs to young women - focusing on oncology and women's health. We work to end disparities of age, stage and color. As a service and justice driven human, I work to eradicate injustice and right inequities, specifically as it pertains to women’s health. I am regularly called upon to speak on Capitol Hill and other venues, as a health, advocacy and empowerment expert. I have worked with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to launch national campaigns and served as an Ambassador for National Women’s Health Week, an initiative of the Office of Women’s Health. I work to implement national health initiatives for women and girls, with a goal of eliminating disparities of age, stage and color. Under my leadership, Tigerlily Foundation has launched national and global health initiatives focused on ending disparities, through the #InclusionPledge, partnering with global stakeholders, with a call to action to recognize health disparities as a social justice issue; and working to end disparities in our lifetime.
