Prostate Cancer UK provides services to men and their families like Specialist Nurses, one-to-one support and information leaflets. They have invested millions over the past 10 years into research, services and awareness. I work closely with the Scotland Fundraising Executive to provide support to our Community, Corporate, Sporting Events, Trust and In Memory Fundraisers. I am the first point of contact for our fundraisers and have collaborated on and co-ordinate our Supporter Journey. I help build strong relationships with our donors and work closely with our other fundraising teams. Furthermore, I have undergone various Raisers Edge training and utilise it daily.
Fundraising Assistant
East Park provides education and supported accommodation services to children and young adults with additional support needs, including autism. I work in a small team with exposure to many different strands of fundraising. I am involved with Trusts and Grants Fundraising, a variety of community projects, managing relationships with corporates and being the first point of contact for individual fundraisers. I have also been given the responsibility of monitoring the website and after presenting the Senior Managers with a Social Media Strategy have implemented this successfully. I have taken part in a variety of training courses including Successful Trust Fundraising, Autism Training and eTapestry training.
Volunteer
June 2012 - September 2012 - I assisted a local fundraiser in organising World Biggest Coffee Morning Events around Lanarkshire. I also helped with general administration, calling fundraisers to assist with their plans and visiting people one on one to discuss their Coffee Mornings. I also held two Coffee Mornings of my own which raised hundreds of pounds. The second of these, I decided to hold in a pub and made it a 'Coffee Cocktails and Cupcakes' Evening. It was very successful and meant that people who had been working all day were still able to attend. Since then I have held regular fundraisers for Macmillan including Coffee Mornings and Girls Night In.
Events And Fundraising Assistant
I worked within a small team of fundraisers assisting with an event called Byte Night. This involved building close relationships with our fundraisers, the organisation of the database, organising the raffle, assisting with the smooth running of the event on the night (including checking in, helping run the floor, overseeing the auction) and post event work.Throughout my Internship I quickly developed a good working knowledge of Raisers Edge and assisted other members of the team with the system. I also built on my strong organisational and communication skills.
Volunteer
T in the Park Volunteer Co-ordinator, July 2013 - this involved co-ordinating the tour, leading the young people and organisation prior to the event.Policy Changes in England and Scotland - I have been heavily involved in improving Cancer Care for teens and young adults and fully support the work of the Teenage Cancer Trust. I contributed to their 'Young Voices Campaign' and as of this, I was asked to speak in Parliament about the topic. Since then I have been involved in the Managed Service Network Launch, met various MSPs to help with policy changes in Scotland and recently met with Aileen McLeod MSP to discuss the education programme in schools. As of this, Aileen has now taken the policy through parliament and they have backed funding for the Teenage Cancer Trust Education Programme to be rolled out throughout schools in Scotland.Planning and running my own event - I held a fundraising Ceilidh for the Teenage Cancer Trust that raised over £2,500 for the charity.
Claims Handler
I worked as a Claims Handler within the Casualty Claims Department. My key responsibilities were claims handling, customer service (through correspondence and telephone calls), complaint resolution, development and maintenance of new IT database for the team and the Secretary of the Charity Committee. In my role with the Charity Committee we would process Charity funding applications, decide which charities to support, research charities in the surrounding area and fundraise within the office.
