Mairin has a master of social work degree at George Mason University. She is passionate about finding ways to address complex social welfare issues and aspires to a career in social policy research. She currently works in as a Data Quality Specialist at Shelter House, a non-profit organization that serves the Fairfax County community.As an undergraduate, Mairin studied English and Anthropology at St. Mary's College of Maryland (SMCM). While at SMCM, Mairin studied literature abroad in Dublin, Ireland, and held a summer internship at The Writer's Center in Bethesda, Maryland. While an intern, Mairin helped with event management and published three pieces: "Gang of Five" in The Writer's Center Guide, Winter/Spring 2017; "Sonic Memories: A Collection of Life Stories by Cija Jefferson" on First Person Plural, September 15, 2016; and "Little Patuxent Review Celebrates 10 Years" on First Person Plural, August 16, 2016.
