As an intern for Pima County, I co-lead several initiatives aimed at reducing tuberculosis rates among our population. I was responsible for identifying and evaluating contacts to active cases, and enrolling potential patients in treatment programs.

In this role, I was responsible for overseeing data quality and accuracy of our surveys in order to accurately track disease outbreaks. My key duties included effectively communicating surveillance findings with various levels of internal technical and non-technical stakeholders.

In my role as a SHARE advocate, I received training through CMS in order to become a certified application counselor specializing in Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, CHIP, etc. I worked with individuals to clarify the eligibility and enrollment process and increase health insurance applications in compliance with the Marketplace Federal Policies and Procedures. I also co-led enrollment events, outreach fairs and conducted weekly SHARE office hours to reach the uninsured and under-insured.

In this role, I fostered success for all members through creating professional development and volunteer opportunities within the local communities. I also coordinated leadership opportunities via liaison programs and worked with sponsors throughout the larger Tucson community and at the University of Arizona. Attended and presented at several national research conferences and was awarded the UROC $10K scholarship.
