I represent and advise clients in matters involving civil litigation with an emphasis in consumer protection. Practical experiences include:• Supervise and provide strategic direction to the Federal department and handle a large caseload of actively litigated cases in Federal Court. • Successfully argue substantive motions, such as: motions for leave to amend, demurrer oppositions, motions to compel, ex parte applications, and motions to remand. • Manage all stages of discovery and motion practice up to trial. Draft joint reports, confidential settlement conference statements, prepare clients for depositions, draft motions for remand and oppositions to substantive motions, such as: motions for judgment on the pleadings, motions for summary judgment, motions to dismiss, and discovery motions.

Legal advisor to government agencies and multinationals operating within the energy sector in Africa in a fast-paced, autonomous environment with significant international travel and exposure. Participated in a wide range of commercial transactions and negotiations, and drafted and reviewed a variety of complex legal documents providing client advice and support. Practical experiences include:• Advised clients and collaborated with project and financial advisors on legal issues related to the construction and finance of a $600 million oil storage terminal. Co-drafted and assisted in negotiations of preliminary agreements and conducted regulatory due diligence.• Co-counsel in the representation and advice to the government on international land and maritime boundary disputes, conducted research and interviews, drafted letters, and co-drafted answer for complaint before the ICC. • Co-drafted Local Content Regulations to promote local economy and labor.• Drafted and assisted in the negotiation of host government agreements for upstream operations, turn-key contracts, joint venture agreements, and preliminary agreements for development of FLNG.• Led due diligence research and drafted client memoranda on local and regional laws, regulations and treaties in support of cross-border transactions.• Director of the Firm’s associate hiring committee; recruiter and coordinator for the Firm’s summer associate program, and various talent outreach programs.

• Represented the Department and the Secretary before various legislative commissions, hearings, and national media.• Met with government officials on policy and proposed bills. Wrote summaries, tracked and advised on impact of pending/proposed legislation. Liaised with press staff to enhance Secretary’s coverage. Followed the legislative process in committees and the House and Senate floors, closely monitoring relevant events.

Draft, research and analyze legal documents such as, contracts, motions, petitions, and court orders. Provided support to attorneys in resolving routine legal issues.

Worked pro bono in the Clinic for Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Discrimination. Assisted indigent clients and facilitated access to justice system by providing free legal representation in complex discrimination lawsuits. Conducted client interviews and assisted in all stages of case preparation under direct supervision of our Clinic Director.- Led comprehensive research, co-drafted and presented the Clinic’s position before the P.R. Senate in support of proposed Bill HR 1725 for the Law Against Discrimination in the Workplace on the basis of Sexual Orientation, enacted into Law in 2013 under a similar, subsequent Bill.

Work in preparation of legal documents and research case study for the representation of indigent clients. Acted as legal observer for ACLU on numerous events.
