I am a member of the QCS SQCP-S2 Project Team and I am involved in the construction a new 1500 bed Correctional Centre at Gatton, Qld.

After the construction phase, I remained at Clarence Correctional Centre in the role of Operations Manager. My job was to monitor, review and report on operations in the facilty. My contract expired in July 2021 and I elected to return to Brisbane and retire.

In that time I have held appointed and acting roles in positions from Correctional Officer to A/Deputy General Manager.I was with Queensland Corrective Services for 23 years all up and have worked in 8 correctional facilities in various roles. Whilst in corrective services I held various roles that include correctional officer, correctional supervisor, staff training coordinator, correctional manager and Project/Commissioning Manager on a number of projects where new and refurbished correctional centres were tested, commissioned and put into operation.I my final substantive role in QCS was Manager Centre Services at Borallon Training and Correctional Centre, which is located at Ironbark, approximately 60km west of Brisbane. Borallon was originally built as a 492 bed men's correctional facility but has recently been redeveloped to accommodate 736 prisoner, a mixture of single and doubled up cells. This project was completed in September 2018. I was involved in the Borallon Project as Project Manager Infrastructure from the commencement of the project in 2014.At Borallon I worked alongside very good staff members from all disciplines. I served in the NZDF Army for 21 years in a range of infantry regimental and training roles. I attained the rank of Warrant Officer Class 1 in the role of Training Warrant Officer, 2nd Land Force Group (now 1 Brigade). I resigned whilst in that position and moved to Brisbane.

Hmas Nirimba, Quakers Hill, Nsw, Australia

I joined the Royal Australian Navy as an Apprentice Engine Room Artificer at HMAS Nirimba, Quakers Hill. I was not in the Navy for long due to a family tragedy and other personal reasons. I returned to Fiji and went back to school to complete Secondary School.I have good memories of my very short term of service. I particularly remember Lt. Roberts (Division Commander) and Chief Petty Officer McCutcheon.
