Everybody has a story. A story full of curves and jagged edges that leads us to who we are today. No road is linear and if it were that would be quite stagnant. Here's a bit of insight into my story. I started out my career as a front desk worker at college with two goals in mind:Goal one is to give my heart in everything that I do. The second is to always remember that everyones story is different. In those 3 years (with the help of my peers and technology) I coordinated appointments, learned expertise in trouble shooting printer errors and most importantly building community with all who entered my path. That commitment continued into my next job where I completed 5 years of guest service at Universal Orlando Resort. In those 5 years I carried with me many friendships and learned to balance not only my own confidence but also how to learn from others with backgrounds unique from your own. While the job certainly created many memories and my heart loved many aspects of my team; I had always felt the most fulfilled while assisting other. This ideology and hope for my future lead to the My 10 month service term with AmeriCorps.AmeriCorps provided the opportunity to not only engage with communities across the United States; It also highlighted the beautiful diversity of the Orlando Community. Not only was the program able to sharpen my Microsoft office and typing skills, It also allowed for the chance to hear other people's journeys and learn what characteristics unite us. In the good and challenging time: open dialouge discussions shared amongst peers allowed the opportunity to work out conflict.
