Overseeing the prestigious Dibba Fishery Harbour Project involving 2Km of Breakwaters with Core Loc Armour protection and 1.2Km of 8m deep Quay Walls; and Barka V IWP marine works involving the installation of 1.6 Km of GRP pipes, breakwaters, Jetty, and 9m tall Intake towers.

As a member of the senior management team, I oversaw maritime facilities and provided property management expertise; accountable for all upgrade projects and equipment procurement using life cycle costings including a 450-ton crawler crane (Kobelco), 275-ton crawler crane (Sumitomo), an 85-ton rough terrain mobile crane (Tadano), forklifts, manlifts, warehouse trucks, and steel fabrication/welding equipment. Monitoring and controlling outputs from consultants and contractors to achieve the best results possible for the end user:o Marine Projects: New Heavy Lift Wharf (1,600-ton capacity); Dredging to -6.0m CD; and New Wet Berth o Land Projects: New Dry Berths and Turntable extension; and New Office Building Managed Maintenance Department and Facilities Overhead Budget: Saved 10% off the maintenance budget 2 years in succession by restructuring, implementing change management, and asset reliability centred maintenance. Managed contractors to achieve contractual SLA KPI’s. Drove efficiencies to reduce waste, and implemented environmental initiatives to reduce energy consumption. Projects and Facilities Manager, 2003 till 2011• Report to the VP Engineering and manage the civil, mechanical and electrical engineering departments.• Coordinate and manage all shipyard expansion contracts, major and minor capital expenditure projects, and plant improvement projects, processing on average 200 requests a year ranging from procurement of new production equipment to small refurbishment projects.• Manage the effective delivery of plant maintenance services entertaining over 1400 maintenance requests per year including planned maintenance and repairs, tracking progress on a computerised maintenance management system.• Currently managing several expansion projects including 155 m quay wall extension (contractor: Dutco Balfour Beatty) 3-storey administrative building (contractor: Alba Tech) and a twin warehouse (contractor: Amana).• Completed contracts valued at AED 450 m including contracts for developing a master plan, detailed design and value engineering, dredging, fabrication and installation of a 2000t Syncholift for lifting ships and marine and heavy civil works and construction of industrial workshops, administrative offices and camp facilities. Site Project Manager, Shipyard Construction, 1999 to 2003• Coordinated the construction of shipbuilding facilities including 90 m ship lift piers, a 70 m quay wall, a 4 rail system serving several dry berths and a side transfer pit, and a 37 m high, 68 m wide ship construction hall with 35 t overhead cranes.• Led a site team of engineers, inspectors and surveyors drawn from Halcrow, the consultant and DG Jones and Partners, the quantity surveyors along with in-house engineers and surveyors.• Coordinated the work at site of multiple contractors like Overseas AST Arabtec JV, Al Hamed, Square General and ASCON maintaining cohesiveness in project execution. Senior Facilities Engineer, 1997 to 1999

• Successfully completed civil works for erection of 33 kV overhead transmission lines in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain for the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity department at a value of AED 850 m.• Managed all technical, financial and contractual aspects for the project involving soil investigation, construction of 85 km of access roads, installation of piled foundations and erection of 850 double circuit towers.

Technical Manager, 1994 to 1995• Managed the execution of the civil works package for the QAFCO III expansion project covering installation of 2,500 bored piles, foundations for urea and ammonia plants, 5 control buildings and a seawater pump house.• Developed subcontractor’s packages for concrete protection, painting and cladding based on FIDIC and local conditions of contracts. Section Manager, 1993 to 1994• Led a team of section engineers and foremen in executing civil works for the construction of the Ras Abu Fontas ‘B’ gas turbine power project. Installed pedestals for 5 120 kV gas turbines with associated foundations, 5m high columns, cable tunnel, chimneystacks and silencers. Executed the concreting of pedestals in 500 m3 pours over 10 hour periods with thermal insulated curing.• Responsibilities included organization of all resources including machinery and manpower, development of construction method statements and design of formwork and monitoring and ensuring achievement of project milestones. Project Manager, 1993• Project: Doha Golf Course, Qatar: Construction of 18 and 9 hole golf courses involving excavation, hauling and backfilling of 400,000m3 of soil and hard rock; importing of 300,000m3 of dune sand for tree mounds; construction of 88,000m2 of lined lakes with associated waterfalls, wires and bridges; and the construction of 3000m of drainage lines.• Looked after all financial and contractual aspects of the project including planning, procurement of materials, submission of monthly valuations and final accounts including claims.• Monitored work at site and coordinated with architects and resident engineers to ensure targeted outputs from labour and plant and complete the project on time.
