Working with an experienced and dedicated team of biologists and planners, I managed the pre-construction biological investigations for a large energy infrastructure project proposed in San Diego County. I was also the lead author of the biology and hydrology sections of Proponent Environmental Assessments (PEA) for linear infrastructure projects. In support of these projects, I interfaced with clients and regulatory agency staff from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and California Department of Fish and Wildlife. I also supported multiple proposal efforts for biological survey and reporting work, including writing scope and cost estimates. When requested, I also was happy to train junior staff on California native plant taxonomy and nomenclature.

At the ICF San Diego office, I primarily assisted public and private sector clients with environmental compliance and documentation, including vegetation mapping, rare plant botanical surveys, CEQA document preparation, and biological monitoring. In addition, I specialized in relational database (MS Access) and GIS (ESRI ArcMap) management / integration with biological data and documentation.

I supported Balk Biological on a variety of special-status plant surveys, restoration monitoring and biological monitoring tasks on an occasional basis. Balk Biological continues to be a source of inspiration for me, because of both the excellent, high-quality work and general enjoyment I receive from the people who work there.

Provided botanical support to a variety of private-sector clients, including special-status plant surveys, vegetation mapping, GIS analysis and habitat modeling, report writing and supervising junior staff.

Assisted communities in northern midwest states with Smart Growth planning, master planning, zoning and subdivision ordinance creation and conservation planning.

Assited with air quality management plan for the City of Austin Sustainability Division, which included tasks related to the Urban Heat Island Initiative. Orgnized downtown tree mapping and data collection effort and mapped tree canopy cover for City of Austin using FeatureAnalyst (Visual Learning Systems, Inc.) add-on software to ArcView GIS.
