CurrentSpearhead and manage all fact-checking for Boston magazine’s 12 issues per year, with pieces ranging from investigative features to service packages and lifestyle stories. Analyze copy with a sharp eye and attention to detail to ensure its accuracy and editorial integrity, both in concrete facts and storytelling nuances, and evaluating sourcing for quality. Work with a legal team to ensure that each story is legally sound, well-sourced, and factually supported.Collaborate with writers and editors to adjust copy and implement fact changes, ensuring that all questions and fact discrepancies are resolved before final publication. Oversee freelance writers when needed, ensuring that all editorial policies and fact-checking guidelines are followed.Contribute 1-2 stories per month for print and digital with original reporting—including long-form investigations, profiles, and arts and entertainment coverage—for Boston magazine and its sister publications, Boston Home and Boston Weddings. Manage and mentor 2-3 interns per semester, coordinating their assignments from all editors including fact-checking, research, and writing.
