    Disaster Response and Assessment Task force (DART) is a team put together by All hands immediately post disaster to get into the country and engage in ground assessments, surveying the damage, liaising with other organizations for immediate relief, setting up a potential project and identifying opportunities for long-term recovery. I was part of a 14-member team that was deployed in Nepal, post the great earthquake of 2015. My primary responsibilities were:- - Worked on strategizing the entry of All Hands operations into Nepal; this is from a operational and financial perspective keeping in balance the various political factors and danger of future earthquakes.- Assessed and evaluated disaster sites for potential volunteer work- Created partnerships with local organizations/NGOs and sourced local volunteersWhile being challenging and heart-wrenching to see death and destruction on a scale like never before, these 2 months in Nepal was one of the most enriching experiences of my life. I learnt to live, adapt and adjust in a disaster environment- getting used to tremors every 6 hours and waking up to dogs and people screaming in the middle of the night were just some of the things. I was constantly seeking creative solutions and opportunities, and using technology foremost to assist the people and create an impact. This experience also gave me a comprehensive view and critical analysis of coordination systems post disaster- namely the cluster system under the UN OCHA.
