Chief Technology OfficerSaher Flow Solutions Dec 2019 - PresentThuwal, SaLeading the team of researcher and developers to commercialize a revolutionary Microwave based non-gamma and non-intrusive "Multi-phase flow meter" for oil and gas industry. -
Research CollaboratorSaudi Aramco Oct 2014 - Jan 2024Dhahran, Sa Designed, developed and tested a fully functional lab prototype of microwave water-cut sensor which can be used in vertical as well as horizontal positions without requiring any flow conditioner/mixer Designed and developed microwave based, IEC-60079 certified, 2-phase flow meter in order to obtain full range water-cut & flow rate measurements Soon to conduct industrial flow loop and field trials of the 2-phase flow meter in oil fields -
Visiting ResearcherSaudi Aramco Oct 2018 - Nov 2018Dhahran, SaPerformed the initial testing of the multiphase flow meter in the 3-phase flow loop of Aramco Services Company. Here I summarize our findings:1- Rated for 1300 psi and 125C (Harsh HPHT field conditions)2- Water Cut(WC) Measurement Accuracy ~1-2% absolute3- Validated the possibility of gas measurement with the same meter4- Integrated flow velocity measurements5- Integrated temperature compensationThe meter will shortly be tested in "Industrial Flow loop" of @CMR, Norway prior to its deployment in the field. -
Visiting Graduate Student (Research Collaboration)Saudi Aramco Apr 2016 - May 2016Dhahran, SaVisited Aramco Services Company Houston,TX in order to perform characterization as well as performance evaluation of the patented water-cut(WC) sensor, built in collaboration with Saudi Aramco. The sensor performed equally well over full water-cut range, different flow rates and orientations. Full range accuracy of 1% was achieved in vertical as well as in horizontal installation. -
Research CollaboratorWins - Wireless Instrumentation Systems As Jan 2018 - Jan 2020Trondheim, Sør-Trøndelag, NoCollaborating with WINS to develop the field prototype of "first-of-its-kind" downhole water-cut sensor for oil and gas industry. -
Phd CandidateKaust Feb 2014 - Nov 2019Thuwal, Makkah, SaDesigned and developed wide range of printed and low cost microwave sensors for oil industry applications:- TRL-8 grade, IEC certified, Microwave based Water Cut Sensor and 2-phase flow meter (Full sensor, interfacing circuitry and SW design and development)- TRL-5 grade, Microwave based Wireless Leak Detector for metallic and non-metallic pipelines- TRL-5 grade, Microwave based Wireless Pipe wall thickness inspection robot- Microwave sensor for simultaneous level detection of 8 liquids of any kind- Microwave core-saturation profiler (under-development)- Microwave Smart Joint (under development) integrating wireless sensing of temperature, pressure, leakage and corrosion right inside the pipe joint.Besides, developed many wireless systems integrated with different sensors, e.g.- Flexible Magnetic sensor integrated with Bluetooth and GSM chipset to enable wireless monitoring of sea animals in Red Sea- Smart bandage integrated with Bluetooth chip to generate wound status alerts and to create real time wound monitoring on smart phone- Smart sleeve (IMUs integrated with Bluetooth chip) to replicate human body movements on smart phone for sports, healthcare applications -
Visiting ResearcherNorce Norwegian Research Centre Feb 2019 - Mar 2019Bergen, Hordaland, NoConducted industrial flow loop trials of our multi-patented microwave based "Multi-phase Flow Meter" developed for well testing in oil industry.Multi-phase flow meter is capable of detecting phase fractions (oil, water and gas) as well as the flow rate of the mixture. It helps optimizing the oil production process and generating alerts for water break-in scenarios. Multi-phase flow meter is an attractive alternative to heavy, bulky, costly and non-real time "Test Separators" which are still being used in 95% of the oil fields of the world. -
R&D EngineerMicrotech Industries(Pvt) Ltd. Jul 2013 - Feb 2014Lahore, Punjab, PkDeveloped “GSM Based Remote Firmware Upgrade” system on MSP430 platform for smart energy meters installed all over Pakistan which reduced maintenance/upgrade cost by almost 95% -
InternMentor Graphics Jun 2012 - Aug 2012Wilsonville, Or, UsNucleus Operating System Developed Nucleus(RTOS) Application(Mobile Radar Based Defense System) Developed RTC, Joystick & I2C drivers for different platforms(IMX-53, AT91SAM) Ported Nucleus Kernel on OMAP-L137evm platform
