In close coordination with the project team leader I conducted the extensive desk research, review of national laws and regulations, collection of official and international statistics and data, liaising with the government agencies and private sector associations, data analysis and report writing. • Within the joint World Bank-World Trade Organization program I carried out the necessary research to identify relevant legislation and filled out the services trade surveys, examining barriers faced by foreign firms wishing to supply services in Kazakhstan in the health and tourism sectors. The results are used for research into the effects of such barriers, state of actual policy barriers, and ultimately to identify priority areas for reform. The collected information will help governments to design policy reforms and engage in services trade negotiations.• Within the Infrastructure Governance (InfraGov) framework developed by the World Bank to help countries overcome the governance bottlenecks around infrastructure I participated in the InfaGov assessments covering Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. InfraGov framework covers selecting, designing, procuring, and implementing the investment projects that create new infrastructure assets. The framework also assesses market structure, competition, the regulatory framework for addressing natural monopoly activities, and the corporate governance of state-owned enterprises. Show less

This work involved designing and administering the questionnaires to the… Show more Within the Enabling the Business of Agriculture (EBA), a World Bank Group study assessing laws and regulations in agriculture, I conducted laws and regulations assessment to identify the regulatory obstacles to import and export of agricultural inputs, market integration and entrepreneurship in agriculture, showing disparities across countries on the strength of regulations and the efficiency of their implementation. This work involved designing and administering the questionnaires to the sectoral experts in 80 countries, remote data collection using different languages, and participating in the data collection missions. With globally comparable data on regulations covering agricultural inputs, plant health, access to finance and markets, the EBA data set showed large disparities across countries on the strength of regulations and the efficiency of their implementation. I contributed to three World Bank reports on Enabling the Business of Agriculture (2016, 2017, 2019) with actionable reform recommendations for policy makers to remove obstacles in the agribusiness sector.
