In this position, I developed an injury reduction program which was piloted at Bowral Bricks, whilst completing the Certificate IV in WHS; initiated the NSW SafeWork “Register a Promise” program to the five NSW Austral Bricks sites, and produced a 12-week Toolbox awareness program (distributed nationally).

A face brick plant operating three shifts to produce 1m> bricks per week, Plant 21 had seen a historical Plant Manager turnover of less than three years. With decisive leadership and determination to succeed, I took the business from an annual gross profit of $1.5m in 2009, to $8.2m in 2015, with a 43% increase in output. This was achieved via improvements to the drying and firing processes. A 21% increase in selling price was achieved with development of a modern range of flat set products while holding manufacturing costs to a low 4.3% increase against a CPI increase of 14.2%. These achievements were not attained at the expense of safety, with compliance to the Brickworks safety Management System lifting from 65% to 90%>, and boasting an LTI free count well over 2,000 days.
