Mal is an experience executive leader in the water industry.As the Chief Development Officer at Sunwater Mal leads a team that is responsible for the development and delivery of large scale, complex bulk water infrastructure assets such as dams, weirs, pipelines and irrigation schemes.Before joining Sunwater Mal was the General Manager - Water Services at John Holland responsible for sector business activity across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia.Mal has over 30 years’ experience in the design-construct environment delivering complex multidiscipline engineering projects, predominately in the water sector. He has served in a range of project-based and management positions. In his various roles at John Holland, he has been associated with the delivery of their Water & Enviro infrastructure contracts valued at over $8b both nationally and internationally. This included water pipeline transfer systems, large scale irrigation schemes, pumping stations, wastewater treatment plants, potable water treatment and advanced water treatment infrastructure such as recycled water and desalination plants.Mal has previously been a Director on the Boards of the Australian Water Association, waterAUSTRALIA, Wateraid Australia and an Advisory Committee member of the Australian Water Partnership. Mal has been recognised for his Distinguished Service to the AWA in QLD and more recently as the Engineering Associate of the Year by Engineers Australia. Mal is member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Engineers Australia, Australian Water Association and the Australian Institute of Project Managers.
