Hey! Thanks for stopping by my profile :) My name is Malachi, I'm 28 years old, and am a rapper, singer, songwriter, performer, actor, and artist. I am currently the program manager for Art Start, a youth-based non-profit striving to nurture the hearts and minds of teens and young adults through their artistic and creative passions. I love to ride my bike, swim at the beach, read, dig for records, cook, drink coffee, and take care of my plants.I have been with Art Start since 2021, starting as a teaching artist working at schools and non-secure detention centers. As a teaching artist, I was able to work in small group settings with young people and work in various art forms such as collage and painting as well as music production, songwriting, and rapping. Through Art Start, I have learned the vast landscape of Social Emotional Learning Skills through art and art education. In March 2022, I was promoted to the current role of Program Manager, where I work in planning and facilitating opportunities for Art Start's cohort of eight Emerging Artists. As an artist myself, I have had the fortunate opportunity of playing live Hip/Hop-R&B- and Jazzmatazz music with my band SPACE CADE7S. As a group we've been playing professionally for about four or five years, opening up for acts like Masta Ace, Jay Electronica, Marlon Craft, Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad's The Midnight Hour. Our band has played sold-out shows at Rockwood Music Hall, SoFar Sounds, Culture Lab LIC, SOB's, and for the past three years, we have established our New York City Park Tour, during the summer. SPACE CADE7S New York City Park Tour was birthed out of the pandemic when we wanted to find a safe and fun way for people to come back together during the summer of 2020. Through our New York City Park tour, we began playing at various parks throughout the five boroughs, raising money for local charities and non-profits, and playing free, live music to passing audiences. I have been a barista in Boston and New York, worked at a pizza shop when I moved back home to MD after college, been a bookseller and e-commerce team member at Brookly's Greenlight Book Store, I've delivered food on my bike for UberEats when I was between jobs, my first job was working at Bed Bath and Beyond. I was a camp counselor in high school, I worked as an Earth Educator at Sassafras Earth Education Camp in Aquinnah, Martha's Vineyard, and I currently work at Headsound Record Shop in downtown BK on Saturdays.
