Fokker Landing Gear (FLG) is part of the GKN group and specialises in the design, production, assembly, repair and overhaul of landing gear for the defense sector. FLG manufactures landing gear for the F-16 fighter, the Apache attack helicopter, the F-35 Lightning II (JSF), the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400, MQ9 UAF and the multipurpose NH90 helicopter.Employed as a manufacturing engineer in the supplier account team, my duties include:- Review and approve supplier manufacturing plans.- Investigate and solve supplier non-conformances and concessions. - Investigate and implement change requests.- Assess and control production documentation, production times, quality assurance and first Article - Providing support on supplier and internal technical issues. - Investigate and manage product deviations.

The Technology Transfer and Innovation (TTI) directorate create opportunities for the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) to collaborate and partner with commerce, industry and community, together with government departments and agencies to facilitate operation through a quadruple helix model. The technology transfer innovation unit offers specialised engineering services to both the industry and academia. These services include product development, additive manufacturing, subtractive manufacturing and research and development.Employed as an additive manufacturing specialist, my duties include:- Managing of technical of nature projects and programmes, which include planning, executing, monitoring and reporting of a project. - Technical and maintenance support for high end additive manufacturing platforms.- Additive manufacturing application development for industry - developing turnkey manufacturing solutions for industry needs/demand. - In house research and development – Additive manufacturing material preparation processes (Quality processes), New material development, in situ additive manufacturing monitoring (4IR applications), additive manufacturing bench marking (Feasibility case studies).- Mentoring staff and post grad students. - Mid management activities – Assist Senior management in strategic planning, proposal writing, monitoring and administration.- Process development and improvement, with the aim to reduce waste (Lean manufacturing).- Part of the QMS task team that is responsible for preparing the organisation for ISO13485 certification.

The Idea 2 Product (I2P) is a self-help laboratory for rapid-cycle product design and development at the Vaal University of Technology. The I2P provides additive manufacturing, CAD, Laser cutting and training to companies and individuals to accelerate innovation and their path to commercial success.Employed as a programme manager, my duties include:- Staff management – Manage a group of 6 multidisciplinary lab technicians.- Training and Mentoring – Training staff and students in CAD (3D & 2D), low end additive manufacturing technologies and laser cutting.- Directing and coordinating Idea 2 Product programme – Reporting, budgeting, strategic development (integrating the Idea 2 Product programme into relevant industry and academia sectors) and specifying / procurement of lab equipment.- Maintaining lab equipment – Responsible for 16 computers, 25 FDM printers and 1 laser cutter.- Product development – Design and development of electronic circuits, PCBs, mechanical design and manufacturing. - Research – Developing research capacity and taking part in applied research activities.

OFM is a regional radio station based in Bloemfontein, South Africa and covers three provinces: Free State, North West province, and the Northern Cape province.
