For several years, Malcolm had been a successful interim manager, specialising in turnaround situations and the restructuring of companies experiencing major change. Malcolm served for several years on the Executive of the Interim Management Association. As a qualified accountant and former finance director, Malcolm’s experience puts him a very strong position to understand clients’ needs and culture, so as to find the right match for each appointment. In 1990, as the first CFO of the Vestey Group, Malcolm negotiated a three-year standstill on £400m of debt with 70 banks. At Diageo/Grand Metropolitan, he was Finance Director of Justerini & Brooks and Wyvern International. After gaining a first-class degree in agricultural economics from London University, he joined PwC and was responsible for major consulting assignments, before moving to Brooke Bond (now Unilever) as Divisional Controller of their African tea plantations and livestock interests. His first book, Ulendo: Claude’s African Journey into War and Passion, was published by Aldridge Press in November 2018.
