I have over 18 years of mechanical design experience working in a variety of manufacturing and specialist design environments, and prior to that 5 years as a Quality Engineer.Engineering - Experience in the design of fractional horse power motors, medical device components, such as needleless drug delivery systems, heavily involved in problem diagnosis to successful design rectification, orthopaedic instruments including jigs and fixtures for specialised orthopaedic and surgical procedures. More recently electronic enclosures and control boxes, tooling and fixtures, to update drawings and improve on current specification to assist in greater reliability and cost of product. To assist purchasing in cost saving projects for change of product / supplier, which includes trial samples provided by the suppliers within the production area. Also, ensuring that Health and Safety issues are addressed when implementing the new products.Continuous Improvement - KAIZEN – Team leader on Kaizen events, to investigate different areas within the company to find improvement of production time, machine reliability, employee safety, cost savings or improvement to product. 6 SIGMA – Lean enterprise ‘Green Belt’ – analysing areas where improvements can be made within the company and cost can be reduced using SPC, FMEA, Gauge R & R Cause and Effect.Customer/Supplier Liaison - Contact with customers/suppliers and the sales engineers to ensure that requirements are met, resolve any problems that occur and make improvements on the product where requested. Set up partnerships to resolve all Quality issues and introduce preventative actions.Quality - Procedures and Practices - Informal and formal auditor for the quality system to maintain the standard required for ISO 9001. Supplier audits to maintain standards for the Vendor Rating system.
