About Malcolm Campbell

Client focused with substantial business experience. Relentlessly compelled by the need to accomplish a goal, driven to build strong relationships and enjoy life. I have had extensive experience as a Retail Business Manager, with Allied Retail Group (ARG), Thirsty Liquor, Lion Breweries, Independent Liquor, Scottwood Gaming Trust and operating our own hospitality businesses, which included off-premises liquor stores. I understand the retail market and what is required to add value and commercial influence to a business situation. In my recent role with Allied Retail Group (Metcash), I managed the Bottle-O, Merchants Liquor, Liquor Centre & Liquor Spot banners throughout the South Island. My territory for ARG, was fifty-five stores throughout the area, from Blenheim to Bluff, which required meticulous planning and travel away over a 6-week cycle.I have communicated with a cross section of store owners/managers throughout my career and enjoy adapting/planning successful projects for each store. This includes exterior/interior branding, Customer service ethos, understanding Gross Profits/ Net profits on all products, POS management, display building/Ticket writing, relaying chillers to promote correct category management, food options, Health & Safety procedures, joint business plans, Alliance Agreement compliance, new store inductions, changeout brands, KPI guidelines and corporate management. I would bring a wealth of Liquor & Sales Management knowledge to your company, I understand the brands, how systems work in the liquor/retail trade and would get the best out of the territory managers presently in place throughout the South Island. I keep excellent health, with a regular fitness regime, which includes gym circuits, squash, and mountain biking.

Listed skills include Customer Service, Project Management, Strategic Planning, Business Strategy, and 6 others.

Manager

William Wallace 1997 Ltd

Rangiora

Managing Director - Hospitality DivisionHaving worked with Lion Breweries in Sales & Marketing from 1992-1999, Kym & I purchased our first hotel in Timaru, The Terminus Hotel, which was a great introduction to hospitality on the other side of the bar....we improved all systems within the business, which gave us a 150% increase in net profit over 2 years.During the last year of being here, we purchased the freehold of this business, so we could sell for an excellent capital gain. Then working for Scottwood Gaming Trust for 2 years gave me a thorough understanding of the gaming industry, but then the pull of ownership came back, so we purchased The Rock in Rolleston, which after 12 months, Kym required major surgery, so we sold out for this to happen.Independent Liquor came calling, so back as Territory Manager for 2 years, which was very enjoyable due to the growing nature of the business and dynamic management style of Micheal Ercerg RIP.Another hotel came beckoning, The Queens Hotel, Timaru needed a turn around, so we rolled up the sleeves again and produced some outstanding figures and sold out after 2 years, then brought The Terminus Hotel from the receivers ( for 1/3 of the price we originally purchased it in 1999..) after falling on hard times, we cranked this old girl up again, had it humming along, then sold out to some local punters that enjoyed their time until it was demolished in 2016....A move back to Rangiora to purchase the iconic Plough Hotel Freehold & Business, which over 4years we improved net profit by 145% with proven systems and hard work. Again we looked at leasing the business and retaining the freehold, which was ripe for sale and have enjoyed trying other vocations since.
