Malcolm Cox has now retired and is relaxing, happily growing bonsai and his other hobbies. Cheers.Cox is now Adjunct Professor in School of Earth, Environmental & Biological Sciences (EEBS), Faculty of Science & Technology (SEF) at QUT in Brisbane after retiring as Professor of Hydrogeology. Previously he was a Key Researcher in the QUT Institute for Future Environments (IFE), and a CI in the National Centre for Groundwater Research & Training (NCGRT). He has led active collaboration with government, resource sector and community organisations. Cox was active in the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH) and President of the Queensland Branch for five years. Active in supervision of research students: PhD, Masters and Honours. Active publication record reflects his applied studies with refereed publications, refereed conference papers, conference papers/abstracts, published scientific reports and unpublished scientific/technical reports.Personal interest in bonsai, Japanese swords and accessories, in particular Mino-den and sukashi tetsu tsuba.Specialties: Main research interests are in hydrogeology, water chemistry of both surface and groundwater systems, and environmental geochemistry. His studies in the Pacific Basin include geothermal and hydrothermal systems as well as water resources. He adopts an integrated approach to the study of natural systems processes. Recent collaboration with QUT software specialists in the development of 3D visualisation of groundwater systems, local and regional scale which includes sedimentary basins.
