Undertaking assurance activities to ensure that the MSSC complies with:All relevant Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) legislation, All relevant MoD/SCC Regulations & standards, Sea Cadet Regulations, the Inshore Boating Operating System (IBOS), MoD & Sea cadet requirements with regard to rifles & ammunition, accounting & security.Undertake Unit Management Assurance (UMA) checks at Sea Cadet units, plus planned & ad-hoc assurance checks at MSSC owned, occupied & managed sites, including Sea Cadet Training Centres, Boat Stations & Area Offices.Undertake assurance on the management of all Sea Cadet weapons held in Unit armouries, providing advice on armoury security & upkeep or where the assurance activity indicates a gap.Support muster & assurance arrangements for weapons held in Regional Shooting Hubs (RSH) & MSSC weapons held in Service Armouries.Undertake safety and assurance of boating activities, boats & associated equipment. Provide co-ordination, inspection & training for MOD mandated Water Safety Equipment (WSE)Where required undertake the assurance of transport in accordance with MoD Requirements & MSSC Transport Regulations to include assurance of MoD & MSSC owned vehicles.Undertake audits of the approval & risk assessment processes as they for district, area & national events, camps & competitions.Provide assurance of unit, district, area & national events, camps & competitions. Where required, provide safety support for National events & competitions.Observation of elements of cadet training to ensure compliance with the Safe System of Training.Random assurance checks of Unit activities, including those activities taking place away from the Unit premises. Review SHE incident logs as required to ensure that reported incidents are monitored to identify issues & trends. Undertake incident investigation as required.Assist volunteers & MSSC employees to identify specific safety training requirements.

Conducting SCC unit and other MSSC facility visits to ensure the appropriate standards are in place relating to:- compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, MoD and SCC regulations;- undertaking safe systems of training inspections;- boat management;- management of MOD mandated Water Safety Equipment (WSE);- management of weapons & ammunition, accounting, and security;- management of MOD Transport and advise on unit transport.Providing guidance, training and support to staff and volunteers in health and safety to equip them with the skills to provide safe training and facilities, including the use and maintenance of MOD Water Survival Equipment and of weapons & ammunition.Managing, investigating and reporting incidents and accidents according to MSSC Incident Reporting Policy.Conducting inspections of all waterborne craft in accordance with Training Afloat Regulations.Conduct Area and District spot checks for H&S compliance.Co-ordinating and managing the Area Asset registers.Management of all Area and Unit MOD owned full bore and small bore weapons, providing advice on armoury security & upkeep.Maintenance and service of MOD safety equipment including Lifejackets and Weapons and their associated equipment.Liaison with MOD on weapons safety and security issues.Muster the MOD Permanent Loan Records (PLR) including approval of Change of Command muster and stock changes and/or write-offs.Attending relevant Area meetings and representing MSSC at external meetings as required.Acting as Logistics Manager for area as appropriate and providing logistical support for national competitions when held within the area.Maintaining and updating records and databases relevant to role.Acting as custodian for stores issued to Area Office.Undertaking any other duties required by the AO or Head of Health & Safety from time to time.
