Safety Assurance Officer
CurrentUndertaking assurance activities to ensure that the MSSC complies with:All relevant Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) legislation, All relevant MoD/SCC Regulations & standards, Sea Cadet Regulations, the Inshore Boating Operating System (IBOS), MoD & Sea cadet requirements with regard to rifles & ammunition, accounting & security.Undertake Unit Management Assurance (UMA) checks at Sea Cadet units, plus planned & ad-hoc assurance checks at MSSC owned, occupied & managed sites, including Sea Cadet Training Centres, Boat Stations & Area Offices.Undertake assurance on the management of all Sea Cadet weapons held in Unit armouries, providing advice on armoury security & upkeep or where the assurance activity indicates a gap.Support muster & assurance arrangements for weapons held in Regional Shooting Hubs (RSH) & MSSC weapons held in Service Armouries.Undertake safety and assurance of boating activities, boats & associated equipment. Provide co-ordination, inspection & training for MOD mandated Water Safety Equipment (WSE)Where required undertake the assurance of transport in accordance with MoD Requirements & MSSC Transport Regulations to include assurance of MoD & MSSC owned vehicles.Undertake audits of the approval & risk assessment processes as they for district, area & national events, camps & competitions.Provide assurance of unit, district, area & national events, camps & competitions. Where required, provide safety support for National events & competitions.Observation of elements of cadet training to ensure compliance with the Safe System of Training.Random assurance checks of Unit activities, including those activities taking place away from the Unit premises. Review SHE incident logs as required to ensure that reported incidents are monitored to identify issues & trends. Undertake incident investigation as required.Assist volunteers & MSSC employees to identify specific safety training requirements.
