About Malcolm Hamilton, Pe, Cfm

Malcolm is a University of Texas at Austin graduate with a Mechanical Engineering bachelors degree and a Texas Business Foundations Certificate. He is currently a licensed Civil Engineer in the state of Texas with a focus on Water Resources, and is seeking a career change into software engineering. He is interested in software development and front-end application work.In September 2022, Malcolm enrolled in Austin Community College's Software Developer Bootcamp. The six-month program provided him knowledge and experience in basic software development skills utilizing primarily HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. He was successful in pitching a website design to the bootcamp staff and cohort and became the team lead for his capstone project. Since graduation, Malcolm has continued his studies through enrolling in the Bachelors of Science degree in Software Engineering at Western Governors University (WGU) in February 2024.During his time at WGU, Malcolm has earned his Amazon Web Services - Cloud Practitioner Certificate and is currently learning new skills such as Python, IT Project Management, Network and Security, Data Management, Version Control, and much more.Beginning August 2021, Malcolm worked for the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) as an Engineer V in the Flood Infrastructure Fund program managing multiple Category 1 projects. He performs project management duties and reviews engineering reports. Malcolm recently graduated from TWDB's Aspiring Leaders Program - a program designed to provide staff access to training and development opportunities in preparation for leadership positions. As of December 2023, Malcolm was promoted to the position of Manager of the Flood Protection Planning Grant Department.
